Dr. Katie Heineck, OTD, OTR/L, CLT, ASDCS

Owner, Occupational Therapist

Katie is a Northern Virginia native who has always had a natural passion for helping children. Katie obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology and studio art from Mary Baldwin in 2012 and a Doctor of Occupational Therapy Degree in 2017. Katie completed her doctoral research in lymphedema and post-mastectomy care, but has primarily practiced in outpatient pediatrics. She started 7 Senses in 2020 with the belief that neurodivergent children deserve to feel empowered and it is our role as clinicians to provide the tools to make that possible! Katie holds additional certifications as a Certified Lymphedema Therapist, Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist, and Primitive Reflex Integration specialist.  She also has specialized training in rare genetic disorders, trauma-informed care, sensory processing and modulation disorders, and a variety of medical complexities, but her primary practice speciality is infant feeding.  Katie has been working with infants using breast, bottle, and enteral feeding for 10 years, and loves supporting families on this journey! She provides pre- and post-frenectomy care, oral motor therapy, transitional feeding therapy (for those who need to learn oral feeding), and functional play treatments which emphasize the positioning and motor skills necessary for effective feeding. When she is not at the clinic, Katie enjoys spending time with her friends and family, keeping up with her dog Kennedy, oil painting, cooking, and connecting with the earth through gardening.
