Shannon O’Brien, M.Ed, CCC-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist
Shannon was born and raised in Northern Virginia where she developed an early awareness of communication disorders through her parents, her father living with cerebral palsy, and her mother with an intellectual disability resulting from a brain injury in childhood. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and her Master’s in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Virginia (Go Hoos!), where her clinical experiences in schools and outpatient pediatric clinics sparked a passion for supporting communication development through child-centered, play-based practices. She is a dedicated collaborator and enjoys partnering with parents and caregivers to create individualized, functional home programs that support carryover of skills beyond the therapy room. In her free time, Shannon enjoys exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains, reading fiction, and eating great food.
